O26.3: Retained intrauterine contraceptive device in pregnancy
You are pregnant even though you have a coil in your uterus.
A coil is made of plastic and is T-shaped. It is coated with copper or certain female sex hormones. It can be placed in the uterus and is to prevent pregnancy. The uterus or womb sits in the pelvis and is pear-shaped. The narrower part extends downward into the vagina and is called the cervix. When a woman is pregnant, the child grows in her uterus.
