Around the time of the birth, fluid collected in the child’s skin.
While in the womb, or shortly after the birth, a variety of reasons can cause fluid to accumulate in the child's skin. If fluid accumulates in the skin, the skin can look swollen. The skin may also feel doughy. Pressing with a finger may put a dent in the skin.
