Q13.3: Congenital corneal opacity

The cornea of your eye is partly or fully cloudy due to a defect.

The cornea is located at the front of the eye. It is transparent and curved. The curvature focuses light in the eye. This is vital to be able to see clearly.

The clouding of your cornea developed before you were born. If your cornea is cloudy, you can see worse, or not at all, with the eye affected.

The defect of the cornea can be hereditary. Other family members can also be affected by a hereditary disorder.
