Q14.8: Other congenital malformations of posterior segment of eye
The rear area of your eye is changed due to a defect.
There is a front and a rear area in the eye. The rear area begins behind the lens with the vitreous body. The vitreous body is surrounded by the light-sensitive retina. The retina is followed by two other layers. They are the choroid and the sclera.
While developing in the womb, many different types of tissue develop in the body. The organs and body parts develop out of the various types of tissue. If tissue fails to develop properly, defects can occur. If the rear area of the eye does not develop due to a defect, vision in the affected eye can be limited.
