Q33.1: Accessory lobe of lung
You have an extra pulmonary lobe.
An extra pulmonary lobe is congenital.
The lungs are on the left and right side of the ribcage. They are also connected to the nose and mouth via the bronchial tubes and windpipe (trachea). The lungs consist of a right-hand and a left-hand lung. These lungs, in turn, consist of various pulmonary lobes. There are 3 pulmonary lobes in the right-hand lung. There are 2 pulmonary lobes in the left-hand lung.
You have developed an extra pulmonary lobe. An extra pulmonary lobe does not participate in breathing. An extra pulmonary lobe may occur in different parts of the lungs.
