Q33.9: Congenital malformation of lung, unspecified
You have a congenital lung defect.
The lungs are on the left and right side of the ribcage. They are also connected to the nose and mouth via the bronchial tubes and windpipe (trachea). The lungs consist of a right-hand and a left-hand lung. These lungs, in turn, consist of various pulmonary lobes. There are 3 pulmonary lobes in the right-hand lung. There are 2 pulmonary lobes in the left-hand lung.
While developing in the womb, many different types of tissue develop in the body. The organs and body parts develop out of the various types of tissue. If tissue fails to develop properly, defects can occur.
