Your fingernails or toenails have been enlarged or thickened since birth.

This can affect one or more nails. Your fingernails or toenails are not formed properly. The nails may also be discolored or break easily.

It is also possible that there are other symptoms.

These changes to nails can be hereditary. Other family members may also be affected.
