Q89.3: Situs inversus

One or more organs in your body lie on the opposite side of the body. This condition is congenital, which means you were born with it.

There are different organs in the thoracic cavity and the abdominal cavity. The chest is where organs like the heart and the lungs are located. Among the abdominal organs are the liver, the stomach, the intestines, and the spleen. The aorta also passes through the abdominal cavity.

One or more of your organs are not in the usual place in the body. Instead, your organs are reversed on the other side of the body. It is also possible for the organs to be constructed in reverse. It is possible that only individual organs are changed in this way. However, this may also affect all organs in the thoracic cavity and the abdominal cavity.

  • V: Tentative diagnosis
  • Z: Condition after
  • A: Excluded diagnosis
  • L: Left
  • R: Right
  • B: Both sides
