R02.00: Necrosis of skin and subcutaneous tissue, not elsewhere classified: Head and neck

Some of the skin on your head or neck has died.

The skin is supplied with oxygen and nutrients through the blood. If part of the skin is supplied with too little or no blood, the area affected can die off. This can be caused by disorders of the blood vessels or by injuries. Part of the skin can also die off due to pathogens.

The affected part of the skin may first look paler than usual, and later turn dark. It can be painful.
