R70.0: Elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate
When your blood was tested, your red blood cells sank more quickly than normal.
Blood is made up of a liquid part and different blood cells, among other things. The blood cells include the red blood cells, the white blood cells and the platelets. The red blood cells carry oxygen from the lungs throughout the body.
The speed with which the red blood cells sank in an upright tube was measured. The result of this type of measurement can indicate inflammations in the body, for example. The red blood cells then typically sink more quickly than usual.
