R82.4: Acetonuria
Ketone bodies have been detected in your urine.
There are normally 2 kidneys in the body. They filter blood and create urine. They thus help to detoxify the body. Furthermore, the kidneys regulate the blood pressure and salt content in the blood, among other things. Only certain substances are emitted via urine to detoxify the body. Ketone bodies are not normally excreted with your urine.
There are many different reasons for ketone bodies being in the urine. When the body breaks down its own fat to gain energy, ketone bodies are created. These ketone bodies can get into the urine through fasting or with various conditions.
Ketone bodies in the urine can make it smell sweet.
