T31.83: Burns involving 80-89% of body surface 30-39% burns of third degree

At least 80 percent of the surface of your body is affected by burns.

At least 30 percent of the surface of your body is affected by very deep burns. When burns are deep the skin may be completely dead. The tissue below the skin may also be damaged. If nerves in a specific location are badly damaged, it will no longer be possible to feel pain there.

A burn involves tissue being damaged by severe heat. This may happen due to fire, electricity, hot liquids or gases, for example. The more body surface is affected, the more severe is the burning.
