T38.1: Poisoning: Thyroid hormones and substitutes
Your body was poisoned by a medication. This medication is intended to act like thyroid hormones.
The thyroid is a small organ at the bottom of the neck. The thyroid gland needs iodine to produce important messenger substances for the body. These messenger substances influence the heartbeat, digestion, and body temperature, among other things.
If you have too many thyroid hormones in your body, your heart may beat too quickly and irregularly. You may also need to vomit or have diarrhea. Sometimes you will also have a fever.
