T48.3: Poisoning: Antitussives
You have been poisoned by a cough relief drug.
The purpose of cough relief drugs is to reduce or suppress the need to cough.
A drug can cause poisoning if, for example, too much of it is taken. The drug may also be administered or taken by mistake.
Depending on which cough relief drug has caused the poisoning, there can be a variety of symptoms. There can be nausea or vomiting, for example. Some cough relief drugs can cause tiredness or even unconsciousness. Your breathing may also be impaired. Sometimes people also have seizures.
