T65.4: Toxic effect: Carbon disulfide

You have carbon disulfide poisoning.

Carbon disulfide is a substance used in the chemical industry. Carbon disulfide can be used in the manufacture of solvents or plastic, for example.

Poisoning can occur if carbon disulfide vapor is inhaled, or if the skin comes into contact with carbon disulfide. Carbon disulfide can also get into the body by being swallowed. Carbon disulfide poisoning can be accompanied by various symptoms.

For example, you can get headaches and feel light-headed. You can pass out. Seizures can also occur. Nausea and vomiting may also occur. The poisoning can also damage blood vessels and nerves. If the nerves are damaged, you may have less sensation. It may also be that you are no longer able to move your muscles properly.
