Z45.80: Adjustment and management of neurostimulator

The settings of a device you are using have been checked or adjusted. With this device, certain nerves are stimulated.

Many processes run unconsciously in the body. These include breathing and digestion, for example. The heartbeat or blood pressure are also adjusted independently by the body. These processes are controlled by certain nerves. Many nerves run from the spinal cord and brain to the organs, skin and muscles in the body.

With some diseases, the nerves do not work properly. Sometimes a device will be inserted in your body that stimulates certain nerves or the spinal cord with an electric current. Such a device can be helpful against pain or particular diseases, for example. Sometimes it is also used to make it possible to better empty the bladder or bowels.

Such a device must be precisely adjusted for you. It is possible for instance to set how much or how often the device emits an electric current.
