Z94.3: Heart and lungs transplant status
In the past you had a heart and lung transplant.
When an organ is transplanted, a diseased or missing organ is replaced by a healthy one.
The heart pumps blood through the body. In the process, the blood flows through blood vessels. The blood supplies all areas of the body with oxygen and nutrients.
You need lungs to breath. When we breathe in, oxygen enters the lungs and accumulates in the blood. This blood then flows to the heart. The heart then pumps the oxygen-rich blood throughout the body. All of the organs are supplied with oxygen as a result.
If a heart and lung are transplanted, the healthy organs come from another person.
