You have a prosthesis that has replaced one of your joints.
It is also possible that only one part of the joint was replaced by a prosthesis.
There are prostheses that replace a joint in the finger, the big toe or the jaw joint, for example.
When a joint is badly worn or injured, it may be painful or less mobile. A prosthesis may then be provided. The prosthesis replaces the entire joint or specific parts of the joint. The prosthesis is anchored in the bone.
