ICD-Code S02.3: Fracture of orbital floor
You have broken the floor of your eye socket (orbital floor).
The bones in the skull are called cranial bones. The cranial bones protect the brain and the sensory organs in the head. These sensory organs include the eyes and nose, for example. The cranial bones also include the jaw bones, in which the teeth are set.
The orbital floor consists of a thin layer of bone. There is a hollow beneath this layer of bone.
When the orbital floor is broken, the eye may sink downwards. You may also then get double or blurred vision. Sometimes the skin below the eye concerned also feels numb. A large bruise may also form beneath the eye concerned.
