Diagnostic endoscopy of urinary passages: Diagnostic urethrocystoscopy

A thin tube has been used to examine your urethra and your bladder.

The bladder sits low down in the abdomen and collects the urine. The urine is produced in the two kidneys. The urine flows from the kidneys into the bladder via the ureters. When you pass water, the urine flows from the bladder via the urethra and out.

The tube was pushed through your urethra. A camera is attached to the end of the tube. This camera then sends images to a screen during the examination. It can then be seen whether the tissue is healthy or changed.
