Diagnostic puncture and aspiration: Diagnostic puncture of eyes and adnexae: Vitreous body

A sample has been taken from the vitreous body of your eye with a needle.

The vitreous body of the eye consists of a transparent, gel-like fluid. It is surrounded by a thin membrane and fills the entire rear area of the eye. This is how it gives the eye its shape.

The sample taken can be tissue or fluid. It can then be examined in the laboratory.

Additional indicator

If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.

  • L: Left
  • R: Right
  • B: Both sides

Further information

Note
