Other diagnostic measures: Automated enrichment with immunocytochemical detection of circulating tumor cells (CTCs)
An investigation has been carried out to see whether certain cancer cells are in your blood.
The tissue in the body is made up of cells. With cancer, the cells multiply uncontrollably, which leads to a malignant neoplasm (abnormal growth of tissue) developing. The cancer cells can destroy the healthy tissue and spread throughout the body. Some cancer cells can detach from a tumor and enter the blood. For the procedure, a blood sample is first taken. In the laboratory, the blood is examined using special methods to detect cancer cells.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
