Other operations on skull, brain and meninges: Functional interventions on skull, brain and meninges: Implant or replace a drug pump for intraventricular infusion: Fully implantable drug pump with programmable variable daily profile

You have had a drug pump implanted or replaced.

A drug pump alway delivers a certain amount of medication straight into the liquor in the brain. So a drug like this usually has a very targeted effect in the brain. There are cavities with cerebrospinal fluid in the brain, around the brain and around the spinal cord. Among other things, the cerebrospinal fluid cushions the brain and spinal cord during knocks and also nourishes the brain cells.

When a drug pump is being used, the body also needs less of the drug than would be the case with tablets, for example. Your drug pump can be configured in such a way that it delivers a different amount of drug at different times of day.
