5-328.6:

Excision and resection in lung and bronchus: Extended (pleuro-)pneum(on)ectomy: Pleuropneum(on)ectomy with diaphragm and pericardial resection

You have had one of your lungs surgically removed.

The operation also involved removing the smooth membrane around your lungs and tissue from your diaphragm and your pericardium. The lungs are surrounded by a smooth membrane. A smooth membrane like this is also located inside the ribs. Both membranes cling to each other via a small amount of fluid.

The pericardium is a layer of connective tissue surrounding the heart. There is some fluid in the pericardium (heart sac). So the heart is able to move inside this lining.
