5-383.a2:

Incision, excision and closure of blood vessels: Resection and replacement (interposition) of (parts of) blood vessels: Forearm and hand

A piece has been removed from one or more superficial veins in your lower arm or hand.

Veins are blood vessels that transport the blood back to the heart.

Sections of blood vessels may be removed, for example, if the blood vessel is enlarged there. A replacement, either from the person’s own body or an artificial one, can then be implanted into the blood vessel.
