5-383.a6:
Incision, excision and closure of blood vessels: Resection and replacement (interposition) of (parts of) blood vessels: Lower leg and foot
A piece has been removed from one or more superficial veins in your lower leg or foot.
Veins are blood vessels that transport the blood back to the heart.
Sections of blood vessels may be removed, for example, if the blood vessel is enlarged there. A replacement, either from the person’s own body or an artificial one, can then be implanted into the blood vessel.
