Other operations on the stomach: Other operations on the stomach: Implantation of radiotherapy markers: Endoscopic
Markers for radiotherapy treatment have been inserted into your stomach.
The stomach is located in the upper abdomen. The stomach has a curved shape, and is connected to the gullet (oesophagus) at its upper end and with the first part of the small intestine at its lower end. Between the stomach and the small intestine is a ring-shaped valve, the pylorus. The inside of the stomach is lined with mucous membrane.
You are going to have radiotherapy treatment on certain parts of your stomach. For this purpose, some locations have been marked before the radiotherapy. The markers were inserted into you during a laparoscopy. A tube with a camera was inserted through your mouth for this purpose. The tube could then be used to push the markers.
