Operations on other bones: Osteosynthesis methods: Internal lengthening or bone transport system: Non-motorized
A special aid which can be lengthened over time has been inserted into one of your bones.
Bones can be supported from the inside, by special aids. The special aids can be made longer when the bone grows. They can also be used to push parts of bones apart. If a bone is severed, new bone tissue grows between the resulting bone parts. If the parts are slowly pushed apart, the bone can be lengthened in this way. This method can also be used to get healthy bone to a site that is damaged.
