The shoulder blade is a flat bone that lies to the back of your upper chest. There is a right and left shoulder blade. As part of the shoulder joint, the shoulder blade connects the upper body to the arm. The shoulder blade is involved in many movements in the shoulder area.

Pins or wires have been removed from your shoulder blade. Pins or wires like these are used to stabilize the bone from within.
