A large area of your skin was diseased or damaged. So a dressing was chosen that is exactly right for what the affected skin needs.

The dressing consisted of a coarse mesh. The mesh was coated with a grease. This should prevent the dressing sticking to the wound. Moreover, certain substances within the dressing should prevent germs from spreading in the wound.

Before applying a dressing, parts of the skin that have died off or dirt, for example, can be removed.
