Mechanical ventilation and respiratory assistance via face mask or tube and weaning from mechanical ventilation: Mechanical ventilation and respiratory assistance in newborns and infants: Respiratory assistance using high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) system: In newborns (1st to 28th day of life)
You have been given additional oxygen through a tube.
You need lungs to breath. When we breathe in, oxygen enters the lungs and accumulates in the blood. This blood then flows to the heart. The heart then pumps the oxygen-rich blood throughout the body. All of the organs are supplied with oxygen as a result.
To help breathing, the air breathed in can be enriched with oxygen. A device then blows this oxygen-rich air through tubes in the nose.
In your case special tubes, through which particularly large amounts of oxygen-rich air can flow, were used. The air for breathing is simultaneously warmed and moistened in these tubes.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
