(Percutaneous) transluminal stent implantation: (Percutaneous) transluminal implantation of covered Cheatham-Platinum (CP) stents (CP stents): One stent: Portal vein
A catheter has been used to implant a small tube in your portal vein.
A catheter is a thin tube. This tube is inserted into a blood vessel in the groin or arm, and pushed further in. Various instruments can be pushed at the front of the tube.
The portal vein transports nutrient-rich blood from the gastrointestinal area to the liver. The liver is an important organ on the top right of the abdomen. For example, it helps with blood clotting and detoxifying the body. Nutrients from food are processed in the liver.
A special little tube was used that consists of a metal mesh with a plastic coating and which can be expanded during the course of the patient’s life.
