OPS-Code 5-784.5e:
Operations on other bones: Bone transplantation and transposition: Cartilage-bone transplantation, autogenous: Neck of femur
You had an operation to place bone material and cartilage in your femur.
The femur has an upper, middle and lower section. The upper section of the femur is connected to the pelvic bones by the hip joint. The upper section includes the neck and head of the femur plus 2 bony protrusions. The bony protrusions lie between the neck of the femur and its central section. The neck of the femur is set at an angle to the central section. The bones in a joint are covered with cartilage. When the joint is moved, the cartilage prevents the bones from rubbing against one another. The cartilage is normally strong and elastic, with a smooth surface.
The bone material was placed at the femoral neck of the femur. The bone material for your femur was taken together with cartilage from another part of your body beforehand.
