There are various kinds of pathogens. You have been infected some time ago with particular bacteria of the bartonella group. These bacteria are transmitted by sand flies. The disease occurs in South America especially.

A high fever and limb pain are common early symptoms of the disease. The disease can make you very severely ill initially. The rash on the skin or mucous membranes sometimes only occurs after a few months. The arms and legs or the face are commonly affected. The affected sites usually look like warts.
