A48.2: Nonpneumonic Legionnaires disease [Pontiac fever]
You have been infected by Legionnaires’ disease (legionellosis).
Legionella are bacteria. They can occur in soil and water. You can become infected by breathing in the bacteria along with water droplets. Unclean water droplets like these can be breathed in while showering, for example. The unclean water droplets may also get into ambient air via a defective air-conditioning system. Temperatures below 20 degrees and above 60 degrees kill off the bacteria.
Legionnaires’ disease can cause fever, headaches and pain in the limbs.
