A54.1: Gonococcal infection of lower genitourinary tract with periurethral and accessory gland abscess
You have been infected with gonococci. The gonococci have caused an inflammation in your urinary tract or genitals.
Gonococci are specific bacteria. An infection with gonococci is also sometimes called gonorrhea. Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease. There are diseases that are particularly transmitted during sex. These diseases are also called sexually transmitted diseases. They are usually caused by specific pathogens. The pathogens can for instance be transmitted via vaginal fluid or semen. The pathogens may also be transmitted from a sick mother to her new-born child when she gives birth.
The urinary passages include the ureters, bladder and urethra. Urine flows from both kidneys into the bladder via the ureters. The urethra channels the urine outward from the bladder.
Your urethra or bladder may have become inflamed. A cavity filled with pus has moreover formed in the tissue around your urethra. If the urinary tract or genitals are inflamed, you may have a pus-filled discharge. Sometimes urination may also be painful.
