B44.2: Tonsillar aspergillosis
You have a tonsil disorder caused by molds.
The tonsils are part of our defense system. The tonsils consist of many defense cells. There are several tonsils in the body, for example in the mouth and throat. The best-known are the tonsils at the back of the palate. But there are also tonsils further back in the throat or on the tongue.
There are molds everywhere in our environment. When we come into contact with molds our defense system usually destroys them. However, these molds can sometimes spread to our body. This can happen when the defense system is weak, for example. The defense system can be weakened by certain illnesses or medicines.
In your case a mold has spread to your tonsils.
The mold can inflame your tonsils. You may then get a sore throat and find it difficult to swallow.
