B74.4: Mansonelliasis

You have been infected by certain threadworms. These threadworms have caused you to have filariasis.

The threadworms are transmitted by mosquitoes. Filariasis occurs mainly in Africa and South America.

The threadworms can cause itching and a skin rash, for example. The legs sometimes swell up, too. The patient may also have a high temperature and painful limbs. But the illness may be accompanied by no symptoms at all.
