Your blood is not clotting adequately.
If the blood vessel is injured, the blood clots at this site. This prevents too much blood from being lost. Many proteins in the blood have to work together for blood to clot.
You have too little of a particular protein in your blood. This protein is important for blood clotting. As a result, your blood is not clotting enough.
For example, it may be that the body can no longer produce enough of this protein as a result of another illness. This can happen with diseases affecting the liver, for example. But it may also be that the protein has been used up because of some disorder. causing you to bleed more quickly and more heavily than usual. You may also start to bleed without any injury.
