D65.2: Fibrinolytic haemorrhage, acquired

Your blood is not clotting properly.

If the blood vessel is injured, the blood clots at this site. This prevents too much blood from being lost. Many proteins in the blood have to work together for blood to clot. However, to prevent blood vessels from clogging, there mustn’t be too much blood clotting. So other proteins in the blood usually prevent too much blood from clotting.

In your case, the various proteins are not working together properly. The proteins that break down clotted blood are working too hard. This makes clotted blood break down too quickly, causing you to start to bleed more quickly and more heavily. You may also start to bleed without any injury. It may be that the proteins are unable to work together properly because of certain disorders or medications, for example.
