You have an increased or decreased number of some of your white blood cells.
Blood is made up of a liquid part and different blood cells, among other things. The blood cells include the red blood cells, the white blood cells and the platelets. White blood cells are part of the body’s immune system. They fight pathogens.
There are various types of white blood cell. You have an increased or decreased number of certain types of white blood cell. That can have various causes. You may, for example, have become infected with certain pathogens. The white blood cells may be increased or decreased as a result of another illness.
