E85.0: Non-neuropathic heredofamilial amyloidosis

You have a hereditary disease, which means you were born with it. As a result, you are repeatedly getting a fever.

With this disease, proteins are being deposited at sites in the body where they do not belong. It is also possible for family members to be affected by this disease. This disease is also called familial Mediterranean fever.

With this disease, you repeatedly get a fever for 1‑2 days. In addition, you may also have pain in the abdomen (belly) and ribcage. Fluid may be stored in the abdomen. The abdomen may then swell up. The joints can also become inflamed. In that case, the joints will become painful, swell up, reddened and feel warm.

The proteins may be deposited in the kidneys. In that case, the kidneys may no longer work properly.
