E88.0: Disorders of plasma-protein metabolism, not elsewhere classified

Your blood proteins are not working properly.

Proteins are very important for many functions in the body and are present almost everywhere. Your blood proteins are not working properly. If the proteins do not work properly, other substances in the blood can no longer be properly transported, for example. Blood clotting may also be impaired. Furthermore, the body’s own immune system may no longer work properly and inflammations or pathogens cannot be fought against so well.

If there are too few proteins in the blood, water can run into the surrounding tissue. For example, the water accumulates in the legs, which can then be swollen and painful. The lungs can also be affected. You then have trouble breathing.
