E88.21: Lipoedema, stage II
The fatty tissue under your skin has enlarged.
The precise cause of the disease is unknown. It is possible that other family members will also be affected.
With this disease, the fatty tissue is not being spread out properly. Fatty tissue often multiplies on the arms or legs much more severely than on the rest of the body. In addition, fluid may be stored in the tissue under the skin.
In your case, the enlargement of fatty tissue is severely pronounced. As a result, the skin looks wavy at the affected sites or is hardened. The affected sites are often swollen and can be tense or painful. The arms or legs can feel heavy. With the disease, you moreover tend to bruise more easily.
