F13.6: Mental and behavioural disorders due to use of sedatives or hypnotics Amnesic syndrome

Sedatives or sleeping pills have made your memory worse.

Sedatives have a tranquilizing effect. Sedatives include, for example, the benzodiazepine group. Sleeping pills help people to sleep. Sleeping pills include, for example, the barbiturates class of drugs.

Your memory has got worse because of your consumption of sedatives or sleeping pills. For example, you may no longer be able to remember things so easily. Sometimes you no longer know for sure when certain things have happened.
