You have a condition that means your cerebellum is unable to control movements properly.
The brain is located inside the head. It receives, processes and stores sensory impressions. The brain controls movements and various physical functions. The cerebellum is part of the brain. The cerebellum monitors and controls body movements and actions. To do this, it continuously processes feedback from the muscles and sensory organs. This is important for being able to maintain balance while riding a bike, for example.
When the cerebellum is unhealthy, you are generally unable to execute movements with precision. For example, you may be unable to walk properly. You may also be unable to balance properly. Speech may also be affected. You may also be unable to control your eye movements properly. Depending on the nature of the condition there may be other symptoms, too.
The disease is hereditary. Other family members may also be affected.
