G31.81: Mitochondrial disease
Your mitochondria are not working properly.
The cells in the human body are made up of certain parts. These parts include, for example, the mitochondria. The mitochondria produce energy for the cells.
If the mitochondria are not working properly, some cells or organs will not have enough energy. These organs and cells are then also unable to work properly. Nerves require a lot of energy, for example. If the mitochondria are not working properly, the nerves can longer work properly either. The nervous system includes all the nerves in the body, as well as the brain and the spinal cord. The nerves run from the brain and spinal cord into the body. They convey information in the body.
With this disorder, the person may keep having seizures. They may also keep getting headaches or not be able to walk properly. Certain parts of the skin sometimes feel numb or an unpleasant tingling is felt. Remembering may also become difficult. The muscles may be sore and tire quickly. It is also possible to have other symptoms.
If the mitochondria are not working properly, it may be hereditary. Then family members may also have symptoms.
