G71.2: Congenital myopathies
You have a muscle disorder as a result of which your muscles are weak.
Muscles are made up of many long cells. These cells form the muscle fibers. Your muscle fibers may not be properly developed, for example. The disease is hereditary. Other family members may also be affected.
The severity of the symptoms may vary with this disorder. When the muscles are very weak the person is usually unable to move properly. The muscles may also be sore and keep going into spasm. It is also possible to have other symptoms. Other organs are also sometimes affected by the disorder. If the heart muscles are affected, for example, the heart sometimes stops working properly. It may also no longer be possible to breathe properly. You may then be very severely ill.
