H66.2: Chronic atticoantral suppurative otitis media
You have had an inflammation of the middle ear for a long time.
The ear is a sensory organ that is used to hear and to maintain one's balance. There are 3 different areas in the ear: the outer ear, middle ear and inner ear. The middle ear begins behind the eardrum. It consists of the air-filled tympanic cavity and the 3 ossicles. The ossicles transmit sounds from the eardrum to the inner ear in the form of vibrations.
The inflammation of your middle ear has spread to the bone around your middle ear. This makes your hearing worse. Purulent, foul-smelling fluid may be discharged from the ear. You might feel an unpleasant pressure or pain in your ear. You may feel dizzy or get a high temperature.
