There is a small bony projection on the head behind the ear. It contains small cavities full of air. You can feel this bony projection behind the ear.

The bone behind your ear has become inflamed because you have another condition. This condition is usually caused by pathogens.

If the bone behind the ear becomes inflamed, it can result in severe ear pain. One may also feel very sick and get a high temperature. One’s hearing may also worsen. A swelling may also occur behind the ear. The affected ear may stick out as a result.
